The Project
We were asked to assist a client who owns a beautiful Grade II listed house in Painswick to work with their Architect to draw up a scheme to replace an existing late 20th Century extension along with general refurbishment proposals including replacement of modern windows with double glazed windows, removal of clutter, insulation and improved ventilation to the top floor bathrooms.
Our first task was to submit a pre-app scheme to the Council which came back mostly positive but they expressed the view that the extension and replacement windows were unacceptable in principle. Nevertheless we did some work on re-designing the extension and, along with a comprehensive history of the windows to demonstrate that the existing were in fact already modern replacements, we submitted an application for planning permission and listed building consent.
Planning permission and Listed Building Consent was granted within 9 weeks of the submission to the great delight of the clients.
We worked with a great team to get this development including Ed Calver, Architect, Jon Lowe Heritage and Cotswold Ecology.
